It's time to show up in pictures. If you need to be seen in life or for your business where do you start and how can you be sure that you will look your 'best self'?
It starts by choosing a great photographer (*coughs) and secondly have some grace on yourself and do a little planning.
I make it easy to prep for my clients, if they read the emails anyway, you know who you are!
We start with a conversation, decide the energy and look we are going for and work out what we want to achieve. I will ask about insecurities and your level of 'done' that works best for you. Generally I am a soft touch on editing and truthfully prepping and great light can mean no post shoot magic or at least very little and before anyone baulks at photoshop let me go take a look at your 95% filter you have on your instagram posts!
A little photoshop goes a long way and in truth, in person, our eyes are kinder than a camera lens. A camera captures everything our eyes miss so I just make that adjustment.
Planning, a great inspired Pinterest board, best time spent ever, a wardrobe rummage and tiny shopping trip (leave on the tags and return it ) later and we are on our way. Make sure that wardrobe is immaculate, especially for business shots. Actors & creatives your wardrobe can look lived in but not creased, character is your whole jam.
Styling.. if you want a wet hair look then ok I'm down to try it but otherwise don't show up not 'done'.. that means mani, pedi, wax, cut, pluck and primp. Be generous with the moisturizer and no I will not edit your bad roots or silver streaks in post go get that done at least a week before. I'd even say a hair and make up artist is a must or a least would be really really great. Showing up to your photographer without meeting them half way is on you.. you do your part and I'll do twice as much on mine.
Take care of yourself leading up to the shoot, no hangovers or sugar monsters for a week.
That's pretty much it, along with a great attitude, being on time and a commitment to trust me , I've got you. These images we are about to take are you on your best day. Right now, in this moment. So, let's go and we can get a beer and pizza after.
