Photography Mentorship

Bespoke Mentoring

“The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own.” — Benjamin Disraeli

I had many mentors on my journey as a photographer.  But foolishly not in a 'one on one' setting.  From afar I sat on the shoulders of people I aspired to be and tried to learn without asking questions.  So, it took me twice as long and no doubt was twice as hard to get to where I wanted to be.  Fool hardy and no doubt more expensive than just investing in myself.

Creative or Business

The business of being a creative

We would all love to just play and for it to not be about money, am I right?  But sadly, and now more than ever the pressure to be successful with our art financially is as important as mastering the technique whilst still retaining our voice.  I learnt how to love the money as much as loving the art.  Sound strange?  It shouldn't. I shoot creatively for money so that when the mood takes me I can play with my camera for free, for my soul.  Let me help you find your balance and you will discover that one, delightfully feeds the other.

FAQ

Will I learn about on the zoom calls?

Mentorship is entirely bespoke. We will established where you have holes in your knowledge or are just maybe not feeling as confident as you would like to be.

But without doubt we will look at your photography, discuss equipment, assess your workflow, talk creative growth and established where you would like to be financially.

Who is this mentorship designed for?

Photographers, whether hobbyists looking to grow their skills and one day maybe become professional or just take great photos for themselves. Professionals at any level who feel that they are struggling with an element of their business or creativity, plus photographers that need a reset and may be feeling burnout. Mentorship can help you find your creativity once more, inspire and motivate. We can all find ourselves in a rut and let's not give up our passion immediately let's see if we can bring it back.

Can you help me build my portfolio?

We can absolutely discuss portfolio build. If our mentorship is over zoom I will give you step by step guidance in creating your own opportunities. If you come to me in person we can create a session purely for this purpose. I will help, guide, direct and ensure you will feel confident with the genre you are looking to move into.

What gear should I bring if I am coming in person?

Bring your camera only and your favorite lenses. Two or three. Plus your laptop and memory cards.

We can discuss what you have before you arrive and make sure you don't travel with more than you need.
